Hector Rabago enters his fourth year at Riverside City College as an assistant baseball coach, specializing in hitting, catchers, and infielders.
Rabago has been a defensive coach & catching coach with New York Yankees organization for the past four seasons as well (2014-17). Each of his previous three teams have placed in the top four in their league in fielding percentage:
- 2016 Rookie-Level Pulaski (4th, .975)
- 2015 Rookie-Level Pulaski (1st, .970)
- 2014 GCL Yankees (2nd)
Rabago was drafted by the Yankees in the 18th Round of the 2009 first year player draft, where he played five seasons as a catcher and infielder. He played his collegiate years at the University of Southern California (2007-09). Rabago was a two-year starter as an infielder and catcher. Additionally, he made 25 appearances on the mound as a reliever.
He is an alumnus of Riverside Poly High School (2006). At Poly, Rabago was named the 2005 L.A. Times Player of the Year for the Inland Empire, All-CIF and Ivy League MVP. In 2006, he was the IVY League Co-MVP and was again named to the All-CIF team.
He and his wife Jordan reside in Riverside with their daughter.
