RCC opened the 2017 campaign with a tri meet against the College of Sequoias and Diablo Valley College.  Riverside ended up on top with a 96-49 victory over College of the Sequoias and a 114-31 victory over Diablo Valley.  The meet was a great opener for all three teams and was ran like an indoor meet with events like the 60m, 300m, etc.  There were some great individual performances by the Tigers.  Jordan Felix (Vista del Lago HS) ran a solid 7.08 opener in the 60m, while Christopher Shiley (Citrus Valley HS) was 2nd in the 300m with a time of 35.22.  Other performances include James Wilson (Alta Loma HS) jumping 45'4½ (13.83m) in the triple jump and Jordan Davis (Elsinore HS) throwing 46'10 (14.27m) in the shot put in his first meet as a tiger.  Anthony Butts turned in a great performance in the 400H running 56.71.  Riverside's "Mr. Everything" Chad Ponciano (Alta Loma HS) turned in a great day competing in 6 different events including stand out performances in the Pole Vault (13'), Discus (121'2/36.93m), and the Javelin (165'7/50.47m)

"There were a lot of really good performances to start the season. I was really impressed with Anthony Butts running 56.71 for his first 400IH race and Chad started out the season really strong with a personal-best in the javelin of 165'7.  We have a lot of work ahead of us but this should be a very strong track season for the Tigers."- Head Men's Coach Jim McCarron
