The Riverside Tigers are OEC Dual Champs

The Riverside Tigers track and field team travelled to Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA this past Saturday to round up the conference duals for the 2017 track season.  The Tigers won their final dual beating OCC 109-51 and Saddleback College 121-33.  This was the 11th straight OEC track and field dual meet championship for head coach, Jim McCarron.  The Tigers continue to improve throughout the season in the sprints with sprinter Christopher Shiley (Citrus Valley HS) running the open 400m in a season best time of 49.24.  The distance crew continues to impress showing why they won the state championships this past fall with three men running under 4:04 in the 1500m.  Cade Clark (Santiago HS) won the event with a 4:02.14 followed behind were teammates Alec Hall (Norco HS) and Joshua Silva (Corona HS) with times of 4:02.65 and 4:03.88 respectively.  Michael Simpson (Canyon Springs HS) ran a very strategic 5000m race winning in a time of 15:40.81.  Keeon Thomas continues to run well in the 400m hurdles running 55.30.  In the long jump the Tigers had two Tigers Anthony Garcia (Murrieta Valley HS) and James Wilson (Alta Loma HS) jump over 22 feet to finish 1-2 in the event.  The throws were led again by Kyle Jenkins (San Gorgonio HS), Jordan Davis (Elsinore HS) and Keegan Wiekamp-Huete (Alta Loma HS) with Jenkins winning the shot and hammer, Davis winning the discus and Wiekamp winning the javelin.

The Tigers are back in action next weekend at UCLA Meet of Champions March 31 and April 1st
