The Riverside men's track and field team competed at UCLA again this week with the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kearse Invitational on Saturday and at the Cerritos Invite on Friday.  At the Cerritos Invite the middle distance continues to be a strong point for the Tigers with Freshman Tyler Lufkin (Yucaipa HS) running a personal best of 1:57.90 in the 800m, ranking him 6th in conference in that event.  The 400m Hurdles was another bright spot for the Tigers with Jacob Shade breaking the 60 second barrier running his personal best of 59.65.

The majority of the Tiger's squad was at the RJ/JJK Invitational at UCLA.  The middle distance showed their depth with four men running under 1:56.25 including Alec Hall (Norco HS) 1:53.85, Cade Clark (Santiago HS) 1:55.81, Joshua Silva (Corona HS) 1:55.96, and Ricardo Cardenas (J.W. North) finishing off the 800m with a time of 1:56.25.  The 1500m didn't disappoint with two men running under 4:00 including Christian Malloy's (Vista Murrieta HS) running personal best and state leading time of 3:54.20.  Behind him was last year's CCCAA 1500m state champion Joshua Silva running a season best of 3:57.93 placing him 6th on the state list.  The throws are starting to get rolling behind Kyle Jenkins (San Gorgonio HS) and Jordan Davis (Elsinore HS).  Kyle Jenkins unleashed a throw of 16.87m/55'4¼ in the shot put taking back the state lead by over two feet and putting him #4 on the Tigers all-time list.  Freshman Jordan Davis hit the A standard and moved into fourth on the state list with a throw of 158'9.

The Tigers are on Spring Break this week but are back in action on the 21st for OEC Prelims which are being held at RCC.
