With the summer of 2017 coming to a close for Riverside City College student-athletes in the very near future, most Fall sport student-athletes are well underway with training for their respected campaigns. Amongst those eager student-athletes lies a RCC Athletics representative that may be even more excited for the approaching seasons – Bennie the Bengal.

Bennie jumped back into the action after an exhausting 2016-17 season that saw Riverside Athletics place third in the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Standings after accumulating a total of 155 points. After a much-needed vacation from all of the cheering due to our success, Bennie traveled to Las Vegas, NV to the 2017 National Mascot Convention.

Bennie learned numerous training tactics to improve his already strong-existing skills. So much so, Bennie earned the All-American Mascot award which is given to one of the strongest mascots at the convention.

"I learned about claw and tail awareness," said Bennie. "I also learned that, no matter the outcome, my fans rely on me to remain energetic and positive."

Bennie joined numerous programs' mascots from around the country that included representatives from Nevada State, Weber State, and crosstown Division I member University of California – Riverside.

Bennie will be making many appearances through the 2017-18 season. Be sure to follow Riverside Athletics on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to stay in tune with Bennie's antics and the RCC Tigers seasons.
