Sophomore Sarah Hollis (Hemet HS) and sophomore Robin Valencia (Riverside) took control of the Brubaker Invitational by finishing in first place and second place, respectfully, in the Tiger's first-place finish on Friday. Riverside dominated the field by earning an overall team mark of 1:41.51 to come in first place by approximately nine minutes. Hollis continued to make a push for the top runner in California by hauling in her second first-placing showing of the season and third podium finish. She paced the field with an astonishing 18:59.2, which was more than half of a minute faster than the second-place finisher. The second place finisher also donned the Orange and Black in the form of Valencia. She finished with a time of 19:44.9 which was more than a half of a minute faster than the third place finisher. Sophomore Carissa Gomez (Citrus Valley HS) placed fourth overall with a mark of 20:30.1, while sophomore Samantha Chapa (Martin Luther King HS) place eighth with a time of 20:57.3.
The Tigers saw six runners land in the top-10 in a first-place finish at the Brubaker Invitational. Riverside was paced by sophomore Ricardo Cardenas (John W. North HS) who finished the race in second place. As a team, Riverside earned a total time of 1:48:18.19 to land them atop the podium. Their team time was nearly two minutes better than the second and third place finishers. Cardenas paced the pack for the Tigers with an overall time of 21:20.31 which included an average mile clip of 5:20.1. He was backed by sophomore Gabriel Sanchez (Perris HS) who landed in fourth place for a career-best finish. He earned an overall mark of 21:33.76, while freshman Deion Molina (Riverside Poly HS) trailed shortly behind in sixth place at a mark of 21:44.66.
The Tigers went 1-1 on the week highlighted by a match sweep over the Santa Ana College Dons on Friday night. Freshman outside hitter Marcella Rodriguez (Belize City, Belize) led Riverside in kills with 12 while recorded a team-high 14 digs. Freshman Taylor Gardner (Colton, CA) led the squad in assists with 21 while adding four service aces.
Riverside dominated its lone contest of the week with a 12-7 victory over Cypress to push their record to 14-1. Freshman attacker Katy Peterson (Menifee, CA) led the way with five goals, while freshman center Kate Fox (Murrieta, CA) backed her with three goals. Freshman goalkeeper Hannah McCarley (Riverside, CA) finished with four saves to earn her 14th victory of the season.
The Tigers went 1-3 in the RCC Tournament highlighted by a 13-5 win over Palomar. It was a well-balanced attack with freshman attacker Bo Loftin (Mira Loma, CA) pacing the pack with three netters. Sophomore driver Pedro Osorio (San Bernardino, CA) pocketed five steals while adding a pair of scores. Sophomore Kristopher McVeigh (Riverside, CA) earned the win after making eight saves and recording three steals.
