Tigers Shatter Records at the Orange Empire Conference
The Tigers shattered last year's record for most points scored by a team (364 points) at the Orange Empire Conference Championships by massing a total of 441.50 points. Leading the charge was John Guzman, who was voted the OEC Track Athlete of the Year. John ran a conference record 30:01.84 in the 10,000 meters and cruised to victory in the 5K with a time of 14:41. "What made his victory so impressive in the 10K was that he did it without any help, and he ran it in a strong wind. The second place finisher was 1:33 seconds behind him. Coach Wilson has done a great job preparing John to go for the rare double of winning both the 5K and 10k at state." Coach McCarron The Multi-Athlete of the Year was Jordon Morris. Jordon won the decathlon with an impressive score of 6306, and he also took the conference title in the 110 HH. "Jordon also has a chance to pull off a rare feat by winning the state title in both the Decathlon and 110HH. He has been training well and is focused, and most of all he is up to the challenge" said Coach McCarron. Coach McCarron was selected as conference Coach of the Year for the seventh consecutive season. The Tigers will be competing at the Southern California Prelims on May 4 and the Southern California Finals on May 11.
