RIVERSIDE -- With a pair of student-athletes posting a pair of first-place finishes, the Riverside City College (RCC) Tigers men's track and field team posted a pair of dominant performances in an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) double dual meet last Friday (Apr. 15) at Arthur N. Wheelock Stadium on the RCC campus.
Riverside City defeated the Fullerton College (FC) Hornets, 152-35, while also defeating the Saddleback College Gauchos, 141-38. Fullerton edged Saddleback, 92-80.
RCC freshman Anthony John Soriano (Santa Ana / Eastvale - Eleanor Roosevelt HS '13) won the long jump (23' 4-3/4") and the high jump (6' 3-1/2"), and was second in the triple Jump (47' 3-3/4").
Also posting a double win was RCC sophomore Wyatt Staggers (Lakeside HS) won his heat (first of three) in the 100-meter dash and was first overall (10.85) and won his heat (first of three) in the 200-meter dash and was first overall (21.21).
RCC freshman Albert Saura (Barcelona, SPAIN) finished second in his heat of the 200-meter dash (21.28) and was second overall. Deondre Brooks (Vista Murrieta HS) was third in his heta of the 200-meter dash (21.32) and was third overall.
The Tigers' next meet will be on Friday, April 22, at Orange Coast College (OCC) for the OEC Championship Preliminaries and on Friday, April 29, at OCC for the OEC Finals. Each day's action begins at 10 a.m.
