Cross County Lands on Podium at Golden West Invitational

The Riverside City College cross country program competed in the Golden West Invitational on Friday morning at Central Park located in Huntington Beach, CA. Both sides returned to the podium after a brief hiatus. They each hauled in the silver medal with four women landing in the top-20 a pair of men landing in the top-20.

Women

Freshman Aily Camacho paced the Tigers for the second-straight week by placing 10th overall with a clip of 20:27.90. Freshman Ariel Martinez was close behind with a mark of 21:06.14 to earn 14th place.

Freshman Genesis Obispo earned her strongest mark of the season by placing 16th overall after crossing the finish line with a time of 21:10.13. Freshman Cassandra Pielow backed her with a 17th place finish at 21:14.09, while freshman Emiliana Merida Cano placed just outside the top-20 with a time of 21:18.83. Her mark earned her 21st place.

Men

The Tigers shifted their participants and granted a new set of legs a chance to compete. Freshman Tyler Graves has been a consistent presence for the Tigers as the number three runner, but today he helmed his squad. He had the highest finish for Riverside at seventh place. He crossed the finish line with a time of 21:38.67.

Freshman Mohammed Mohamed completed his trot inside the top-20 with an 18th place finish reading 22:03.11. Sophomore Nathaniel Steele earned a clip of 22:16.46 to haul in 21st place, while freshman Ricardo Cruz placed 23rd overall with a mark of 22:19.56. Freshman Matthew Liebermann followed with a time of 22:21.55 to place him 24th overall.

The Tigers will continue action on Saturday, October 13 at the Highlander Invitational hosted by UC Riverside beginning at 8 a.m.
