Men’s Basketball Routs Golden West in Conference Opener

Four players landed in double-digits as the Riverside City College men's basketball team dropped an even 100 points in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) season opener against the Golden West College Rustlers on Wednesday night. It was the first time this season the Tigers etched triple digits on the scoreboard leading to a commanding victory.

Riverside shot a season-high 50 percent from three-point territory after snapping the net 10 times from deep. Overall, the Tigers were 55.1 percent from the floor and dominated the boards leading to 43 rebounds to the Rustlers' 23.

Leading the charge was sophomore guard Edwyn Collins who dropped a season-high 25 points. His mark was two points shy of tying his career-high mark he set two seasons ago. He was responsible for half of the Tiger's made three pointers (5-for-8) and finished 10-for-17 from the floor. Furthermore, he was one rebound shy of a double-double as he hauled in a team-high nine. He added two steals and two assists as well.

Sophomore Amir Davis shot 50 percent from the floor leading to 21 points which encompassed a 7-for-10 mark from the charity stripe. He did everything on the floor as seen in seven rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks.

Sophomore point guard Melvin Walker dropped 14 points on just six shots from the field. He worked his way to the line eight times and hit six free throws. He added five assists and two steals to his nightly resume.

Sophomore forward Sammy Richardson appeared in his first game of the year and notched 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the bench, while freshman duo Cortland Moffatt and Jalen Monroe combined for 10 points.
