No. 17 Riverside Falls to Top-Ranked Fullerton

Since returning from a series of postponements, the Riverside City College men's basketball team has hosted two of the top southern California competitors in the state. The top-ranked Fullerton College Hornets were welcomed into Wheelock Gymnasium on Wednesday night with hopes of getting back into the win column.

The Tigers were within striking distance the entire game, but a Fullerton was too much to handle down the stretch leading to an 83-67 loss.

Riverside held two leads, but only by one point and they dwindled quickly. Fullerton was up by 18 at one point, but eventually won by 16 points.

Riverside's defense was shaky as they allowed the Hornets to shoot 62.5 percent from the floor highlighted by an impressive 52.6 percent from distance.

A poor shooting night that left sophomores Robert Ayala and Zekiah LoVett a combined 4-for-12 haunted Riverside down the stretch. Sophomore Amir Davis had one of his strongest showings to date as he matched his season high mark of 21 points to go along with seven boards, four steals and four assists.

Sophomore Edwyn Collins played well by dropping 14 points while adding two blocks and two steals.

Riverside saw no production from their bench as they only contributed 11 points. However, Fullerton earned every bucket as Riverside only turned the ball over a season-low eight times.
