Strong Shooting Leads Riverside to Victory

Riverside City College made its home debut Wednesday night, grabbing a 98-74 victory over Victor Valley College.

The Tigers – who shot 54 percent from the floor – improve to 2-2 on the year, while the Rams drop to 0-3 overall.

Jabari Harris led the Tigers with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while Zay Freeman followed with 13 points (4-for-5), and Matthias Tinker (5-for-6) chipped in 12 points.

Ryan Hite got the Tigers on the board first, and despite the Rams trying to keep the Tigers close, Riverside broke through with a 10-0 run five minutes into the first half, sparked by a Christian Warren layup.

Riverside held a 44-31 lead at halftime and came out shooting on all cylinders in the second half, boasting a 60 percent shooting clip.

The Tigers scored the first eight points of the half to jump out to a 52-31 lead and grabbed their largest lead of the night, 96-67, off a Jayden Harper three-pointer en route to the 98-74 victory.

RCC looks to build off their strong shooting night as Long Beach City College comes to town on Friday for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
