Lady Tigers Dominate in the O.E.C. Dual
The Tigers Started the day off strong with Hammer Throw. Fatima Vegara finished 3rd with a personal best (PB) throw of 164-3 ½. Jessika Byrd won the event with a huge mark of 184-6 ¼ which is just 2 feet shy of the national record. Byrd did break her old school record of 179 ft. from last year's State Championship. Vagara also won the Discus Throw in 124-9 ¼ . Vagara had a good day in the throws leading a 1-5 sweep in the Shot Put and breaking a school record with a throw of 41-6. Joshulyn Penniman lead a 1-3 sweep in the Triple Jump (35-4) using a half approach to the board. She was followed by Bi'Jon Jackson (34 ft) and LaKendra Hawkins-Ross (33 ft). Hawkins-Ross won the long jump in 15 ft. Chandler Edwards won the pole Vault (9 ¼ ), Michelle Uy won Javelin (100-11), and Jessika Giacoletti lead a 1-5 sweep in the High Jump. Giacoletti achieved a PB with a jump of 5-5 ¾ which better her old PB that put her second at the state meet last year. On the Track, the Tigers continued to 7 out of 10 events.Taylor Coffelt won the 100m (12.86) edging out Saddleback's Star sprinter Holly Rieck (12.89). Holly returned the favor to Taylor in the 200m later in the evening but with time of 26.57, but was no match for Brandee Rodriguez strength and speed. Rodrigues ran 26.35 to win the race. Coffelt was 3rd (26.75). Rodrigues also lead a 1-4 sweep in the 400m (who is primarily a short sprinter -100m) with a 8sec. PB in a time of 59.69. Shiloah Williams (who was 3rd in the conference championships and was on the State Champion 4x400m relay last year) was 2nd in 60.68, cydnee Richards was 3rd (63.55), and Ashante Young was 4th (63.99). Marrissa Jimenez finished behind Saddleback's Evonna Ramirez in the both the 1500m and 3000m. The Tigers Finished 1st in the 100 hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay. Riverside won the meet against Saddleback 119 -34. RCC did not score the meet against Santa Ana because they scored and beat Santa Ana in the their first meet of the year.

The Tigers will be back in action next week in Cerritos at the Long Beach Classic Invitational on March 1 and 2.
