Tigers Use Team Effort to Power Past Glendale

Riverside City College bounced back from a rough shooting night to grab an 85-72 victory over Glendale College Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 4-3 on the year, while the Vaqueros drop to 3-5 overall.

As a team, RCC shot 47.5 percent from the floor and out-rebounded Glendale 46-39.

Five Tigers finished in double figures, led by Kollen Murphy's 23 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Jabari Harris added 12 points (5-for-10), while Christian Warren (2-for-5), Tylon Williams (4-for-5), and Zay Freeman (4-for-9) all chipped in 10 points.

Warren and PJ Pounds each grabbed 11 rebounds, while Matthias Tinker snagged 10 boards.

The lead changed four times before RCC took control of the game with two minutes left in the first half off a Warren triple, 35-34.

Glendale tried to keep things close and banked in a three-pointer to start the second half, cutting the deficit to two, 42-40. Warren answered with a three-pointer of his own to keep the Tigers in front.

With 13 minutes left in the game, Tinker stole the ball away and Freeman drained a shot from beyond the arc to put RCC up by double digits and all but put the game away.

A Williams and-one gave Riverside its largest lead of the game with just over four minutes to play as RCC coasted to the 85-72 win.

The Tigers remain at home to host Chaffey College on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
