RCC Dominates Glass In Second Straight Win

Riverside City College grabbed a 73-57 victory over Chaffey College on Wednesday afternoon, dominating the glass 53-37.

The Tigers improve to 5-3 on the year, while the Panthers slip to 5-4 overall.

Three Tigers finished in double figures, with PJ Pounds leading the charge. The sophomore posted 22 points (10-for-19) and grabbed 10 rebounds. Christian Warren followed with 11 points and eight boards, while Jaedon Hose-Shea added 10 points and eight rebounds.

RCC won the tip off and Jabari Harris scored the first points of the contest on the Tigers' first possession, sparking an 8-0 run to start the game. Pounds scored four of the points in the spurt, while Tylon Williams also got in on the action before Chaffey managed to stop the bleeding.

The Tigers kept pushing and took a 13-point lead with four minutes left in the first off a Williams three-pointer, but the Panthers clawed back to pull within single digits, 36-29, at halftime.

Chaffey tried to keep things close, but RCC put the game out of reach as Harris drained two free throws with three minutes left in the game to put his team up by 21 as the Tigers coasted to the 73-57 victory.

Riverside remains at home to host a three-day tournament, starting Dec. 3 as the Tigers first take on East Los Angeles College at 6 p.m.
