No. 28-ranked Riverside City College grabbed a thrilling 78-76 victory over No. 30-ranked Irvine Valley College Friday night.
The Tigers improve to 11-7 overall and 3-1 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Lasers drop to 12-6 on the year and 2-2 in conference.
Kollen Murphy scored a career-high 30 points (10-for-17) while dishing out four assists. Kavon Ray added 15 points (5-for-7) and also had four assists on the night.
As a team, RCC shot 50.9 percent from the floor, including a 55.6 percent in the second half. It came in handy as the Tigers found themselves trailing for most of the game.
With just under five minutes left in the game and down 10 points, the Tigers went on a 14-4 run to tie the game 76-76 with 35 seconds to go.
Jabari Harris gave Riverside the big defensive stop it needed after stealing the ball away and banking in his layup to give the Tigers their first lead of the night with 16 seconds left in the game.
IVC tried to hit a three-pointer to take back the lead, but Harris grabbed the missed shot to secure the 78-76 victory for RCC.
The Tigers remain at home as they host No. 10-ranked Santa Ana College on Wednesday, hoping to keep momentum rolling.
