No. 23-ranked Riverside City College closed out the regular season with a 94-90 victory on the road at No. 20-ranked Santiago Canyon College.
The Tigers head into postseason with a 17-11 mark and finish the season tied for second in the Orange Empire Conference at 9-5. The Hawks drop to 20-8 on the year and settle for a tie for second in conference at 9-5.
Four Tigers finished in double figures, led by Kollen Murphy with 26 points (8-for-19). Kavon Ray posted 13 points on 4-for-8 shooting, while Tylon Williams (5-for-12) and Matthias Tinker (3-for-5) each added 12 points.
It came down to the wire as Santiago Canyon pulled within two points, 90-88, with just 30 seconds left on the clock. The Hawks called a timeout and proceeded to foul, but Tinker made his shots at the line to keep the Tigers in front.
Jabari Harris then came up with a big stop, stealing the ball away and drawing a foul before sinking his free throws to give Riverside a six-point cushion.
The Hawks banked in a layup with six seconds left, but the Tigers held on for the 94-90 victory.
Riverside waits to see where it matches up for the 3C2A SoCal Regional, which is set to be announced Sunday.
