Bio
Mason C. Burroughs is a highly respected track & field coach with over 30 years of experience developing young athletes at the youth, high school, and collegiate levels. As a dedicated mentor and leader, he has built a reputation for combining elite athletic training with character development, discipline, and community values.
In 2024, Burroughs joined the coaching staff at Riverside City College as the Assistant Men’s Track & Field Coach – Sprints. In 2025, he played a key role in coaching RCC athletes to a 3C2A State Championship title, further solidifying his impact at the collegiate level and his ability to develop elite sprint talent.
Burroughs is also a cornerstone of the I.E. Stallions Track & Field Club, where he has guided the development of more than 30 National Junior Olympians and 15 Junior All-Americans, helping athletes reach the highest levels of national competition. His commitment to excellence has consistently produced athletes who not only perform at an elite level but also demonstrate integrity, leadership, and resilience.
Burroughs is a USA Track & Field (USATF) Certified Official and a National Junior Olympic Coach, having earned this distinction over 20 times. His coaching excellence has been recognized with multiple Coach of the Year honors, including the Big Sky League Coach of the Year and the Ambassador League Coach of the Year.
His athletic background includes competing at a high level, with participation in international competition such as the Friendship Games representing the United States, as well as competing in the Police Olympics and Fire World Games. This experience provides him with firsthand knowledge of elite performance and competitive preparation. Burroughs was also a running back for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD Centurions) for six years. During that time, he was part of the First National PIG BOWL Championship which was played in the Orange Bowl, in Miami, Fl.
Beyond accolades, Burroughs is deeply committed to his mission: to use sports as a platform to guide young athletes toward reaching their full potential, both on and off the track. As former Police Detective of 21 years, Burroughs is determined to help our youth stay off the streets and keep them from getting incarcerated. Burroughs coaching philosophy emphasizes hard work, accountability, faith, and community, making a lasting impact on every athlete he mentors.
