Bio

The 2026-27 academic year marks the 16th season for Michael Wilson as an assistant coach for Riverside City College. Wilson has been in charge of coaching the long-distance track athletes since his arrival in August of 2010, and he also serves as assistant coach for both the men's and women's cross country programs at RCC.

While at RCC, since the fall of 2010, Wilson has coached on six team state championships. Multiple Orange Empire Conference Titles in cross country and track and field. He has helped to develop multiple track state champions at the 10k, steeplechase, and women's pole vault.

Wilson brought 27 years of coaching experience to RCC. For the previous 13 years, he had been the head coach of the boys and girls track and cross country teams at Upland High School and coached girls' basketball. At Upland HS, his cross country teams finished seventh or better at the state meet five times and went to CIF Finals 10 straight years.

Before Upland, Wilson helped Duarte High School to a CIF 1986-87 championship, after having competed for the school. He has coached multiple individual CIF champions in track and cross country while at Duarte and Upland. In 2008, his cross country team at Upland finished third in the state meet, posting one of the best times ever at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Additionally, he worked for the Major League Baseball scouting bureau from 1988 to 1996. Wilson coordinated the Baseball in the Inner City program, the MLB Scout Development Program, and the June MLB amateur draft. He edited and handled up to 2500 scouting reports each year on baseball players in high school and college.

Coach Wilson has two brothers, two sisters, two children, and two grandchildren.
