Four Tigers Win Individual Titles on First Day of OEC Championship

After the first day of the Orange Empire Conference Championship Meet, Riverside City College sits in first place with 121 points after seven events were scored through Friday.

Savannah Ganter won the 3K steeplechase with a time of 11:38.27, while Dakota Zamarripa wasn't far behind her in second with a time of 11:55.35. Citlaly Ruiz took fourth in 12:31.52.

Nadia Munoz capped the day with a championship in the 10K, crossing the finish line in 39:25.32. Ganter finished in second with a time of 40:42.18, while Zamarripa took third in 43:48.02 and Ruiz grabbed fourth in 44:51.27.  

Joace Warrior won the long jump with a mark of 5.52 meters (18-1.5) and Tiana Burgess followed at 5.40 meters (17-8.75), while Michelle Palacios Alvidrez grabbed fourth with a jump of 4.93 meters (16-2.25).

Rylee Blanton picked up the hammer championship with a throw of 47.43 meters (155-7). Isabelle Campos took third with a mark of 44.65 meters (146-6), while Esra Mor posted the fourth-best throw at 40.15 meters (131-8).

Miracle Crawford grabbed second in the shot put with a hurl of 11.16 meters (36-7.5). Alma Franco took third with a throw of 11.03 meters (34-0.75), while Brittany Jordan and Mor also placed in the top six. Jordan posted a mark of 9.73 meters (31-11.25) and Mor threw for 9.71 meters (31-10.25).

Jolene Lavaki and Tiana Burgess won their heats of the 100-meter dash with respective times of 12.20 and 12.59 seconds, while Warrior (12.89 seconds) and Breanna Asondoh (13.33 seconds) also qualified for the championship nect week.

Lavaki also qualified for the 200-meter championship after winning her prelim heat with a time of 25.20 seconds. Cierra Ellis won her heat in 25.35 seconds, while Briana Miller (25.86 seconds) and Aiyana Allen-Jefferson (26.54 seconds) also secured their spots for next week.

Kasey Plumb won her 800-meter prelim heat with a time of 2:25.83, while Sarah De Leon was right behind her in 2:28.34 to send both Tigers to the final. They will be joined by Kendra Amaro (2:32.65) and Jaiden Kelly (2:33.50).
