Riverside Finishes Fifth at 3C2A State Championship
Riverside City College closed out the 2026 season with a fifth-place showing at the 3C2A State Championship on Friday and Saturday.
The Tigers finished with 59.5 team points, just .5 points behind San Diego Mesa in fourth place. Host Mt. San Antonio College won the team title with 117 points.
RCC saw its 4x100 relay team come just shy of the championship, crossing the line in 46.73 seconds to take second overall – .13 seconds behind first place Mt. SAC. The Tigers' 4x400 relay team also finished fourth with a time of 3:53.78.
Tiana Burgess finished runner-up in the triple jump at 11.80 meters, which she cleared on her first attempt of the day. She also took second in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 14.19 seconds. Kierstin Marpaung wasn't far behind, taking fourth in 14.48 seconds.
Nyah Brown took fourth overall in the shot put. After two fouls to start the competition, Brown buckled down and hit 12.65 meters on her fifth try to grab a spot on the podium.
Kaycia Carridice finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.44 seconds and took sixth in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 11.96 seconds.
Sara Brittin grabbed sixth in the javelin throw, hitting 36.37 meters on her third attempt to earn a spot on the podium.
Victoria Redd hit 43.22 meters on her second try in the discus throw, which was good for sixth overall.
Beau Hocking tied for sixth in the high jump after clearing 1.55 meters on her first attempt.
Kenzy Eden took seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.48 meters on her third attempt of the day. Skylar Svidergol finished just outside the podium in ninth at 41.24 meters.
Mabel Gonzalez finished with 4,004 points in the heptathlon, taking 10th overall.
Cailtyn Brody took 11th overall in the 3K steeplechase, finishing in 12:45.23.
