Tigers Take 13th-Straight OEC Title

Riverside City College won its 13th-straight Orange Empire Conference Championship Saturday.

The Tigers finished with 337.50 team points, followed by Orange Coast College with 285.50 points. Saddleback College took third with 53 points.

Nadia Munoz was named the OEC Women's Track Athlete of the Year following the meet.

Munoz, who won the 10K last week, claimed the 5K with a time of 18 minutes, 18.06 seconds after making her move to first with two laps to go. Citlaly Ruiz finished in third with a time of 19:27.56, while Celesta Mendoza took fifth in 20:15.06.

RCC saw six sprinters finish in the top eight of the 100-meter dash. Kiarah Rivers led the group with a time of 12.41 seconds, while Catalina Teran was just. 01 seconds behind her in second. Sarah Hernandez took fifth with a time of 13.03 seconds. Beau Hocking (13.10 seconds), Joace Warrior (13.22 seconds) and Mariah Thomas (13.54 seconds) rounded out spots six through eight.

Teran won the 200-meter dash in 25.42 seconds, followed by Rivers in 25.73 seconds. Kyndall Hayes grabbed sixth in 26.91 seconds, while Kayla Sykes (27.58 seconds) and Hernandez (27.70 seconds) rounded out the top eight.

Teran also won the pole vault, clearing 3.05 meters on her second try.

Riverside swept the 100-meter hurdles as Kierstin Marpaung won the event in 16.02 seconds. Warrior followed in second with a time of 16.78 seconds, while Taleyah Graves clocked in at 17.31 seconds to take third.

Graves won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.16, while Elizabeth Hammond took third in 1:10.33.

Janel Lugo-Bourbonnias (58.37 seconds) finished second in the 400-meter, edging out teammate Hayes (58.87 seconds) by .5 seconds. Sykes followed behind in fourth with a time of 1:00.26.

Esra Mor led a bunch of Tigers in the hammer, taking second with a mark of 43.32 meters on both her third and sixth tries. Skylar Svidergol followed in third with a mark of 36.04 meters, while Victoria Redd (34.80 meters) and Alexandra Franco (33.45 meters) rounded out the top five.

Marpaung took third in the triple jump, clearing 10.43 meters on both her first and final attempts.

Jazmin Ambriz finished fifth in the javelin, hurling a mark of 21.51 meters on her fourth attempt.

Jaiden Kelly took seventh in the 1500-meter race, clocking in at 5:23.16, while also finishing fifth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:42.91.

Riverside won the 4x100 relay (Hernandez, Teran, Rivers, Graves) with a time of 48.08 seconds. The Tigers (Lugo-Bourbonnias, Rivers, Teran, Graves) also won the 4x400 relay in 3:54.51.
