Another Tiger Gets the Call
Former Riverside City College standout Ignacio Alvarez got the call every baseball player dreams of getting, "You're heading to the Big League."
Alvarez, who led the Tigers to the 2022 3C2A State Championship, was drafted out of RCC in 2022 as the 155th overall pick in the fifth round of the MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves and was called up on Sunday.
The infielder has impressed in Triple-A after knocking seven home runs in 27 games and boasts a .342 average. He also has 21 stolen bases on 24 attempts.
At RCC, Alvarez played in 48 games and finished with a .370 average and .582 slugging percentage. He had 68 hits, including 16 doubles, four triples and five home runs. Alvarez scored 57 runs and batted in 44 RBIs.
