No. 8-ranked Riverside City College came up short in an intense 8-7 loss to No. 27-ranked Santa Barbara City College on Saturday, seeing its season come to an end.
The Tigers finish the season 29-13, while the Vaqueros moved to 25-16 on the year after dropping their next contest to San Diego Mesa.
RCC exploded on the board early with a four-run first, led by a Luke Medure (2-for-3) triple and a Noah Haros (1-for-4) single that both drove in two runs. Grant Gray (1-for-3) added on with a ground-rule double in the second as the Tigers took a 6-0 lead after the second.
Bubba Heidler (3-for-3) and Medure led the way for the Tiger offense with multi-hit and run-scoring games.
On the mound, Jorge Rodriguez gave the Tigers a solid start, tossing four innings and striking out three. Jack Wheaton kept the game close late with 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball, notching a strikeout, but ultimately the Vaqueros took the game 8-7 to end the Tigers' season.
