Gonzales Leads Tigers to Fourth Place Finish

Riverside City College took fourth overall at the Victor Valley College Orange Empire Conference tournament on Monday.

The College of the Desert won the event with a two-over 290, while the Tigers finished with a 316. They tied Cuyamaca College but won the fifth-man tiebreaker to take the fourth spot.

Elijah Gonzales finished third overall with an even-par 72, just five strokes behind the top spot. Jack Wasserman followed with an 80, while Michael Viene carded an 81 and Ashton Spalding posted an 83 to round out the scorers.

Blake Richert helped RCC take fourth after finishing with an 84, one stroke better than Cuyamaca's fifth man. Rigo Navarro finished with a 90 on the day.

RCC heads to Cuyamaca next Wednesday, teeing off at noon on April 8 at Steele Canyon – a place it found success earlier this year, where the Tigers took second place.
