Riverside Sits In Third After First Day of OEC Championship

Riverside City College sits in third place after the first round of the Orange Empire Conference Championship, just six points behind top spot Orange Coast College.

The Tigers boast 23.66 points after the first day, while the Pirates sit in first with 29.63 points and Golden West College is in second with 24.85 points.

Riverside went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard free with Yousef Nahali leading the charge. The sophomore finished in 20.62 seconds to win the event, while Zekiah Serrano followed in 20.92 seconds and Lennon Franklin took third in 21.02 seconds.

RCC's 200-yard free relay team won with a time of 1:24.00, just .34 seconds ahead of OCC's team.

Zachary McDonald finished second on the 3-meter diving board with a score of 248.70, while Luke Bills finished fourth with 135.45 points.

Jeremiah Ireland took fifth in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:51.41, followed by Jared Ladinez in sixth after touching the wall in 4:52.61.

Adrian Thompson took 10th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.71.

RCC continues the three-day championship on Friday, with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m.
