Tigers Win First OEC Meet

Riverside City College won the first Orange Empire Conference meet of the season with 851.5 team points. Orange Coast College took second (720.5), while Golden West College (232) and Saddleback College (141) followed in third and fourth, respectively. Cypress College (101) and Fullerton College (79) rounded out the team order.

The Tigers swept the top three positions in a lot of the events, like the 200 individual medley. Brianna Bandoc won the event in 2:40.26, while Sofia Mather (2:41.13) followed in second and Kiersten Maag (2:41.54) took third.

Bandoc also won the 100-yard IM in 1:10.47. Audra Lacey followed in 1:13.22 and Lily Heilberg grabbed third with a time of 1:13.66.

Lacey won the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:59.00. Ava Brown took second with a time of 6:00.32, while Keira Casey grabbed third in 6:08.32. Lacey also won the 100 butterfly, touching home in 1:14.89. Once again, Brown followed suit and took second in 1:17.13.

It was an all-RCC 50-yard free competition, with Samantha Thomas leading the charge in 26.55 seconds. Kaia Boone took second in 26.64, while Presley Burrell wasn't far behind at 27.18.

Boone went on to win the 100 breaststroke, clocking in at 1:14.61, and the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:41.95.

Thomas led the all-RCC 100-yard free competition and posted the best time of 1:00.17. Maribella Toyer grabbed second in 1:05.22, while Orozco took third in 1:06.24.

Clare Baty won the 200 free in 2:08.99, while Savanna Ettinger took second in 2:12.68.

Nicole Robertson took first in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:08.43. Robertson also won the 200-yard back with a time of 2:27.59.

Yosra Elseifi posted the best time in the 1650 free, touching the wall in 19:33.90. Isadora Taylor followed in 19:51.83. Taylor and Elseifi then flip flopped as Taylor took second in the 400 IM with a time of 5:06.00. Elseifi followed in 5:10.21. Taylor also won the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:33.30.

The Tigers return home to host the Riverside Invitational next weekend, which will conclude Saturday.
