Tigers Open with First Place Finish at Golden West Invitational

Riverside City College opened the 2026 season with a first-place finish at the Golden West Invitational on Friday.

The Tigers finished with 509.5 team points, beating out San Diego Miramar College (494.5 points) and Orange Coast College (422 points).

Kaia Boone won the 50-yard breaststroke in 33.97 seconds, while Ashlyn Allen wasn't far behind in third with a time of 35.10 seconds. Brianna Hoover also finished in the top 10, clocking in at 37.00 seconds.

Allen beat out Boone in the 100-yard breast, taking second in 1:14.77, while Boone touched the wall in 1:16.87 to take third. Hoover wasn't far behind in fifth with a time of 1:22.78.

Boone also took third in the 100-yard individual medley, clocking in at 1:08.62.

Riverside (Audra Lacey, Isabella Stolpp, Isadora Taylor, Boone) won the 800-yard free relay in 8:49.33, before Stolpp turned right around to take second in the 50-yard free with a time of 26.58 seconds.

Stolpp also tied for second in the 200-yard free but won her heat in 2:12.07. She grabbed another second-place finish in the 100-yard free, clocking in at 58.84 seconds.

RCC's 200-yard medley relay team took third with a time of 2:01.54, while the 200-yard free relay team also took third in 1:50.03. The Tigers finished third in the 400-yard medley relay (4:31.05) and the 400-yard free relay (4:01.96)

Casey posted a time of 1:09.68 in the 100-yard back to take seventh and grabbed third in the 50-yard back with a time of 32.87 seconds. Sophia Rodriguez followed in fifth with a time of 33.90 seconds.

Taylor took third in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 31.28 seconds and finished fourth in the 500-yard free, touching the wall in 5:51.35. She also took fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:29.74.

Madison Faulkner posted a top-10 time in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:13.21.

Riverside heads to its first Orange Empire Conference meet next week on Friday, with Saddleback College hosting the meet, set to start at 9:30 a.m.
