RCC Starts Strong at Redlands Invitational
Riverside City College got the 2025 season off and running Saturday morning at the Redlands Invitational.
The Tigers took second overall with 50 team points. Redlands won its invitational with 21 points, while Caltech came in third with 55 points.
RCC saw five Tigers finish in the top 20, each coming with a five-second gap to help solidify Riverside's second-place surge ahead of Caltech.
"It was a great start," said head coach Jim McCarron. "It should be a very strong team this season. The guys are coming along well."
Martin Torres-Sandoval led the Tigers with a time of 19 minutes, 59.9 seconds, while Dyeem Tolbert (20:00.6) and Alex Wesolowski (20:00.7) came within a millisecond of each other to finish ninth and 10th overall.
Luis Mier posted a time of 20:03.0 to take 11th, followed by Anthony Silva in 12th place after crossing the finish line in 20:04.2. Angel Gomez finished just outside the top 20 with a time of 20:28.1, while Joshua West rounded out the scorers for the Tigers in 20:28.1.
The Tigers stay local and head to Cal State San Bernardino next weekend with the Coyote Invite on Saturday.
