Riverside Takes Second Against Top Teams
No. 7-ranked Riverside City College took second as a team at the Golden West Invitational on Friday, beating out two teams with higher rankings.
The Tigers finished with 48 points after putting three runners in the top 10 and six in the top 20. Cuyamaca College won the event by just four points (44), while Cerritos College took third (61) and San Bernardino Valley College finished in fourth (119).
Alex Wesolowski led RCC with a fourth-place finish overall, crossing the finish line in 21 minutes, 12.63 seconds. Joshua Wast wasn't far behind in seventh place (21:16.28), while Luis Mier took ninth with a time of 21:17.03.
Martin Sandoval finished in 21:27.78, which was good for 14th place, followed by Anthony Silva in 16th place with a time of 21:31.77. Dyeem Tolbert also finished in the top 20 at 18th after posting a time of 21:37.82, while Angel Gomez rounded out the scorers with a time of 22:10.12.
The Tigers return to Riverside to take on the UCR Invite next Saturday.
