Riverside Cross Country Teams Set to Compete at 3C2A State Championship
Riverside City College's men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete for the 3C2A State Championship Saturday morning, with the men's team looking to win their third straight championship of the season.
The Tiger men come off their 10th consecutive Orange Empire Conference title and first-ever SoCal Championship, entering the 3C2A State Championship with a target on their backs.
"The guys are ready to go," said head men's coach Jim McCarron. "They have a race plan that they're ready to follow. We're peaking at the right time. It's my job to tune them up and then I get to watch a great race."
RCC men – who have placed in the top five in five of the last six years – enter the championship meet as the eighth-ranked team in the State, but Saturday's race is likely to be a barnburner with the top eight teams all vying for that title. Alex Wesolowski led the Tigers in the last two races and looks to keep pace in the state championship.
On the women's side, RCC qualified with a top 10 finish at the SoCal Championship. Lorena Munoz led the Tigers and will look to do it once again at Fresno.
The 3C2A State Championship Meet takes place on Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno, with the women's race at 10 a.m. and the men following at 11 a.m. Fans can follow live results HERE.
