Men’s Tennis Sweeps Saddleback, Remains Undefeated

It was another dominant performance for the Riverside City College men's tennis squad after traveling to Saddleback College on Thursday afternoon in conference play. The Tigers, after nearly sweeping Saddleback earlier in the week, came out with the same forceful energy leading to a 9-0 win.

The Tigers began with a strong showing in doubles. A quick 8-0 victory from sophomore Chris Lee and freshman Justin Rigsby set the tone. Sophomore duo Aurelien Arlot and Florian Sirven followed with an 8-4 win, while freshman tandem Noah Canones and Elliot Burer earned an 8-4 win.

Arlot, who acted as the top singles player, found himself in a battle after winning the first set. Despite facing a deficit early in the second set, he battled back after being down one point in the second set to take the lead and eventually the match, 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman Rafael Rullan continued to perform at a high level by winning 6-0, 6-0 as the number two singles player. Lee followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at three.

Sirven bumped down to the fourth position and cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win. Rigsby was one point shy of a clean sweep with a win at 6-0, 6-1, while freshman Carlos Rullan pocketed an easy 6-0, 6-0 win in the sixth position.

The Tigers (4-0) will continue action on Tuesday, May 4 on the road at Irvine Valley College at 2 p.m. No fans are allowed in attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions.
