Riverside Sees All Three Doubles Teams, Five Individuals Advance at State Championship

Riverside City College saw all three doubles teams and five singles players advance in the 3C2A State Championship on Thursday.

Charalampos Plataniotis and Vinicius Magrin dominated their opening competition 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the Round of 32, while Ronith Sreeram and Giovanne Recchia also grabbed a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Matias Almeida and Ethan Lee will join their fellow RCC doubles teams in the Round of 32 on Friday after defeating their opponents 6-1, 6-1.

Individually, Plataniotis earned a first-round bye before grabbing a 6-0, 6-1 victory to advance in the tournament.

Sreeram also earned a bye in the first round and defeated his first opponent of the tournament 6-1, 6-0.

Recchia picked up a bye in the opening round of the tournament and grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the Round of 64 to advance to Friday's action.

Magrin beat his first opponent 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the Round of 32 after grabbing a first-round bye as well.

After his first-round bye, Almeida battled to grab a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory and stay alive in the tournament.

Lee won his first match 6-0, 6-1, but fell in the round of 64 (6-1, 6-0).
