Southwestern
After dropping a 19-13 battle with No. 10-ranked Sierra College, Riverside City College bounced back with a 17-14 victory over Southwestern College at the Golden West/Orange Coast Tournament on Friday.
The Tigers move to 6-14 overall after the split day, while Sierra sits at 9-5 on the year and the Jaguars hold a 2-11 overall record.
In the first game, Luke Bills scored five goals, while Yanti Quijada followed with four goals and Jax Mora scored three goals. Damion Montegue also scored in the game.
Quijada exploded for eight goals in the nightcap, while Jax Mora added three goals. Nico Armstrong, Davis DeAnda, and Bills also scored twice.
The Tigers found themselves trailing to Southwestern halfway through the second, before scoring seven goals in the third to jump out to a 13-9 lead and held on for the lead.
Leonardo Davis finished with 27 saves in the cage over the two games.
The Tigers turn right around for day two of the tournament, first taking on Saddleback College at 9:10 a.m.
