Riverside Opens Season with 9-0 Sweep

Riverside City College opened the new season with a dominant 9-0 victory on the road at Antelope Valley College Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers begin the year with a 1-0 mark, while the Marauders drop to 1-1 on the year.

Julianna Capraro and Angelina Capraro breezed past their doubles match 8-0 before both Capraros won their singles bouts. Julianna won 6-1, 6-0, while Angelina defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-2.

Victoria Herrera and Brianna Nikas downed their doubles match 8-1, while Fleurdeliz Libutan and Natalia Gomez dug deep to grab their match 9-8.

In singles action, Herrera allowed just one point, while Nikas, Libutan, and Gomez each battled to win their games to secure the sweep for the Tigers.

The Tigers make their home debut on Friday, hosting LA Mission at 2 p.m.
