Tigers Race Past Roadrunners in First OEC Match

Riverside City College picked up its fifth-straight win Tuesday, beating Rio Hondo College 9-0 to open Orange Empire Conference action.

The Tigers improve to 6-1 on the year and 1-0 in conference, while the Roadrunners drop to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the OEC.

Riverside swept the doubles competition as Julianna Capraro and Angelina Capraro dominated the No. 1 spot 8-0, before Victoria Herrera and Brianna Nikas won 8-2, and Fleurdeliz Libutan and Natalia Gomez followed with an 8-3 victory.

RCC kept up the domination as each Tiger won their singles match in two sets. Herrera and Angelina Capraro didn't allow a Roadrunner point (6-0, 6-0), while Julianna Capraro only let her opponent grab one set point.

The Tigers remain at home, hosting Mt. San Antonio College on Thursday at 2 p.m.
