RCC Dominates Final Tuneup Before Conference Action

Riverside City College made quick work of Southwestern College, grabbing a 9-0 victory Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers improve to 5-1 on the year, while the Jaguars drop to 0-3 overall.

Southwestern only had five players, so RCC won one of the doubles matches and a singles match by default. Julianna Capraro and Angelina Capraro won their doubles matchup 8-1, while Victoria Herrera and Brianna Nikas swept their doubles competition 8-0.

Nikas didn't allow a point all day, taking her singles match 6-0, 6-0, while both Capraro sisters and Fleurdeliz Libutan also shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Herrera won her singles match 6-1, 6-1.

RCC takes a little break before starting Orange Empire Conference action on Tuesday, Feb. 24, as the Tigers host Rio Hondo College at 2 p.m.
