Riverside City College closed out the Santa Ana College Tournament with a 64-51 loss to San Diego Mesa College Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers drop to 4-8 overall, while the Olympians improve to 5-4 on the year.
For the third straight game, Alexa Moreno led the Tigers with 16 points, shooting 4-for-8 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Brianna Ruelas was right on the cusp of double figures with nine points, dished out five assists, and grabbed four steals.
Salote Patetefa led RCC's rebounding effort with 12 boards, while Michelle Soto grabbed six rebounds.
It was a pretty balanced game, except Riverside gave up 25 turnovers, which resulted in 25 points, while only cashing in on nine points off SD Mesa mishaps.
Despite trailing by 16 late in the game, RCC never gave up and cut the lead down to seven points, 58-51, with just under 30 seconds to play in the fourth.
Mesa wouldn't let Riverside any closer, however, hitting its free throws in the final seconds of the game to secure the 64-51 result.
The Tigers take a week to recover and look to bounce back at the El Camino Crossover, first facing Santa Barbara City College on Monday, Dec. 15, at 5 p.m. at El Camino.
