RCC Dominates Glass in OEC Defeat

Riverside City College held No. 22-ranked Saddleback College to just five points in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 74-60 loss on the road Wednesday night.
The Tigers drop to 6-13 overall and 0-3 in the Orange Empire Conference, while the Bobcats improve to 15-4 on the year with their third-straight conference win.
Alexa Moreno came up big for the Tigers, finishing with 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting and grabbing 14 rebounds, while also dishing out three assists and grabbing two steals. Salote Patetefa also scored in double figures, posting 12 points (4-for-12) and was one board shy of a double-double.
As a team, Riverside crushed the glass, finishing with 57 rebounds to Saddleback's 32 boards. Amia McKinney and Brianna Ruelas each snatched eight rebounds to help RCC keep Saddleback off the glass and stay in the game.
Defensively, the Tigers held the Bobcats to just a 7.1 shooting percentage in the final 10 minutes of action but couldn't quite get the ball to fall on their end of the court, finishing with a 15.0 shooting clip as Saddleback closed out the 74-60 victory.
RCC returns home Friday to host No. 10-ranked Irvine Valley College for a 7 p.m. game time.
