Riverside Drops Final Last Tuneup Before Conference Starts
In its final nonconference matchup before opening Orange Empire Conference play next week, Riverside City College battled but came up short in a 4-2 loss to East Los Angeles College on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers drop to 4-10 overall, while the Huskies improve to 9-4 on the year.
Karly Romero led RCC with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, while Aerin Anselmini (1-for-4) and Ryli Wilson (1-for-2) also had hits in the game.
East LA scored first with two runs in the top of the second, but RCC evened the score in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Romero doubled to center field before coming home on an Anselmini triple. A Husky error allowed Anselmini to come home, tying the game at 2-2.
It stayed tied until the top of the seventh when the Huskies took back the lead off two runs.
The Tigers looked to answer back as Romero singled with two outs, hoping to spark a two-out rally, but East LA managed to get the third out to secure the 4-2 result.
Riverside begins conference action on Tuesday, hosting Golden West College at 2 p.m.
