RCC Evens OEC Series with Santa Ana
Riverside City College evened up the Orange Empire Conference series with Santa Ana College Thursday afternoon with an impressive 11-7 victory at home.
The Tigers improve to 8-20 on the year and 3-8 in conference, while the Dons slip to 6-21 overall and 2-9 in the OEC.
Karly Romero (3-for-4), Abigail Baldwin (3-for-4), and Ryli Wilson (3-for-4) each had three hits to help RCC post 14 hits in the game.
It was back-and-forth early on before Riverside put together an explosive sixth inning to jump out to an 11-5 lead.
Romero and Baldwin led off with back-to-back singles before Madyson Aguilera drilled a double to the gap in left center and Romero beat the throw home. Baldwin then came home on a groundout before a Don error plated another Tiger run.
Wilson kept the rally going with an RBI double of her own, before Jasmine Lemus doubled to send Wilson home to put Riverside up 11-5.
Santa Ana tried to rally in the top of the seventh and scored two runs, but RCC held onto the 11-7 win as Giselle Flores Morales struck out the final batter of the game.
Lemus picked up the win in the circle with four strikeouts, while Flores Morales grabbed a save with two strikeouts in two innings of action.
The Tigers and Dons close out the series back at Santa Ana on Friday, with first pitch set for 11 a.m.
