RCC Opens Season at #15 Cerritos
Riverside City College got the new season underway Tuesday, dropping a 10-2 loss to No. 15-ranked Cerritos College in six innings.
The Tigers begin the year with a 0-1 mark, while the Falcons improve to 1-1 on the year.
Carissa O'Neil went 1-for-3 with one run, while Brooke Bishop finished with a 1-for-2 showing at the plate.
After going down 1-0 after the first inning, RCC tied the game in the top of the third inning after Ruby McDonald scored on a fielder's choice.
Cerritos answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning, but the Tigers kept battling and scored again in the top of the fourth. O'Neil led off with a triple to right field before coming home on a sacrifice fly from Giselle Flores Morales.
The game took a turn in the fifth after the Falcons plated four runs and then put the run-rule in play in the bottom of the sixth with another three runs, 10-2, to end the game early.
Riverside looks to bounce back as it makes its home debut on Thursday, hosting Southwestern College at 3 p.m.
