Riverside Falls to Ranked Mt. SAC
Riverside City College took on a tough opponent Saturday, falling 12-3 in five innings to No. 4-ranked Mt. San Antonio College.
The Tigers drop to 6-16 overall with the loss, while the Mounties improve to 20-2 on the year.
RCC finished with eight hits, with Madyson Aguilara (2-for-2), Giselle Flores Morales (2-for-3) and Abigail Baldwin (2-for3) leading the charge.
Riverside scored first off a sacrifice fly from Alysha Kendrick but soon found themselves trailing 4-1 after the first two innings.
In the top of the fourth, the Tigers capitalized on a Mountie error to pull within two, 4-2, but Mt. SAC kept its distance with another two runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Still, the Tigers kept battling and plated another run in the top of the fifth after loading the bases with two outs. Baldwin knocked a base hit to left field, sending Aguilara to come home but the Mounties grabbed the third out to keep the Tigers from putting together more of a rally.
Mt. SAC then exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to put the run rule in play and end the game early, 12-3.
RCC heads to Santa Ana College on Tuesday for a 2 p.m. contest.
