Riverside Closes OEC Series with OCC on a High Note
Riverside City College closed the Orange Empire Conference series with Orange Coast College on a high note Friday afternoon, posting a 9-6 victory at home.
The Tigers improve to 9-23 overall and 4-11 in conference, while the Pirates drop to 16-16 on the year and 10-5 in the OEC.
Abigail Baldwin (3-for-4) and Alysha Kendrick (3-for-4) each had three hits in the game, while Madyson Aguilera (2-for-3), Giselle Flores Morales (2-for-3), and Brooke Bishop (2-for-3) also finished with multiple hits.
RCC got on the board in its first chance at the plate as Aguilera knocked a two-run homer over the fence in center.
The next inning, Kendrick drilled a long ball of her own, this time with bases loaded to increase Riverside's lead to 6-0.
OCC kept battling and made things interesting with four runs in the top of the sixth to pull within two, 8-6, but RCC answered back in the bottom of the sixth and dug down to keep the visitors from getting any closer and secured the 9-6 victory.
Flores Morales picked up the win in the circle with five strikeouts in seven innings of action.
The Tigers turn right around to host Allan Hancock College on Saturday at noon for a non-conference matchup.
