San Joaquin Delta
No. 5-ranked Riverside City College opened the Delta Women's Invitational with two wins Friday morning, downing Diablo Valley College 17-10 before beating host San Joaquin Delta College 17-6.
The Tigers improve to 8-4 on the year, while the Mustangs slip to 5-9 and the Vikings sit at 3-1 overall.
In the opener, Yosra Elseifi led RCC with six goals, four assists and six steals in the game. Angelina Beall added five goals, while Isabella Stolpp and Keira Casey each rattled in two goals. Riverside also saw goals from Natalia Jaime and Madison Faulkner.
Alyssa Cortez made six saves in the cage for RCC.
Against the Mustangs, Elseifi found the back of the cage seven times and grabbed seven steals. Beall followed with four goals, while Stolpp added another two. Kaia Boone, Faulkner, Casey and Brooklyn Wagner also got in on the scoring action for Riverside.
Once again, Cortez made six saves to keep the Tigers in the game.
Riverside closes out the tournament on Saturday, taking on No. 4-ranked American River College bright and early at 8 a.m. The Tigers don't get much rest in between games as they conclude the tournament against Sierra College at 10:30 a.m.
