Tigers Open Riverside Tournament With Big Wins

Riverside City College opened the first day of the Riverside Tournament with two lopsided victories. The sixth-ranked Tigers first grabbed a 23-11 victory over Crafton Hills College before downing No. 7-ranked San Joaquin Delta College 16-9.
RCC improves to 5-2 on the year, while Crafton Hills slips to 3-4 and Delta sits at 1-3 on the year.
In the first game against the Roadrunners, Yosra Elseifi posted seven goals, five assists and eight steals. Angelina Beall scored six goals and had three assists, while Isabella Stolpp and Brooklyn Wagner each scored twice. The Tigers also saw goals from Rylee Baldwin, Kaia Boone, Victoria Mondragon, Kailin Stumpf, Madison Faulkner and Keira McDonald.
The Tigers then faced the Mustangs for the second time in as many days and posted a similar outcome.
RCC jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and pushed to a 9-2 lead at halftime to all but seal the 16-9 victory.
Elseifi led Riverside once again, rattling in six goals on seven shots, while Beall was a perfect 5-for-5 on shot attempts. Natalia Jaime scored a hat trick and Boone chipped in two goals.
Alyssa Cortez finished with eight saves to pick up the win in the cage.
The Tigers turn right back around to host a tough opponent as they take on No. 2-ranked Santa Barbara City College on Saturday at 8 a.m. RCC then closes the tournament at 3 p.m. against Rio Hondo College.
