No. 3-ranked Riverside City College opened the year with two lopsided wins on the first day of the Orange Coast College Tournament. The Tigers downed Saddleback College 15-7 before dominating a 21-9 victory over Ventura College.
RCC starts the year at 2-0, while the Bobcats drop to 2-4 and the Pirates slip to 0-3 on the year.
Angelina Beall scored 11 goals over the two games, including going a perfect 6-for-6 on shot attempts against Ventura. Yosra Elseifi followed with nine goals, four assists, nine steals, and four ejections drawn to help RCC pick up the two wins.
Alyssa Cortez picked up the win against Saddleback, posting 10 saves in the cage, while Ella Sheldon grabbed the victory against Ventura with five saves.
The Tigers have a big day on the horizon, taking on the tournament host, No. 8-ranked OCC at 8 a.m. before facing top-ranked Long Beach City College at 12:20 p.m. to close out the tournament.
