Tigers Advance at SoCal Regional, Give Finfrock 300th Career Win
No. 4-ranked Riverside City College grabbed a 19-18 victory over No. 8-ranked Golden West College Friday afternoon to not only advance in the SoCal Regional, but also hand head coach Doug Finfrock his 300th career win.
The Tigers improve to 22-9 on the year, while the Rustlers fall to 19-11 overall.
Presley Burrell scored six goals, while Yosra Elseifi followed with five goals. Angelina Beall and Brooklyn Wagner each added three goals, while Isabella Stolpp and Madison Faulkner also scored. Brooklyn Wagner dished out seven assists for RCC.
Alyssa Cortez made nine saves in the cage to help RCC pick up the win.
It was back-and-forth action the whole game, with Riverside holding a 15-13 lead heading into the last quarter. Golden West made things interesting by tying it up with just over two minutes left in the game, 17-17.
Burrell rattled in a goal with 1:50 on the clock, before the Rustlers tied it back up with 1:14 left to play. Beall came up big with a goal in the final five seconds, securing the 19-18 victory for the Tigers.
Riverside takes on top-ranked Long Beach City College on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for the SoCal Regional semifinal.
