No. 4-ranked Riverside City College faced top-ranked Long Beach City College for the second time this season at the Long Beach Mini. The Tigers battled but ultimately fell 15-6 before dropping a 16-10 loss to NCAA Division III program Azusa Pacific University.
The Tigers slip to 16-6 on the year, while the Vikings remain undefeated at 21-0 overall.
Angelina Beall provided RCC with five goals against Long Beach, while also drawing three ejections. Isabella Stolpp scored the other goal for the Tigers, while Presley Burrell and Yosra Elseifi each assisted twice.
In the nightcap against the Cougars, Elseifi led Riverside with four goals, two steals and three drawn ejections. Beall and Keira Casey each added two goals, while Kaia Boone and Stolpp also got in on the action with one goal each.
The Tigers found themselves trailing by nine, 12-3, less than three minutes into the third quarter and clawed their way back within three goals, 12-9, halfway through the fourth. Elseifi sparked the six-goal scoring spree with a goal with five minutes left in the third and Casey capped the spurt with a goal halfway through the fourth.
It was the closest the Tigers would get to the Cougars, however, as APU closed out the 16-10 result.
Riverside looks to get back to its winning ways with a midweek Orange Empire Conference matchup at Cypress College on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m.
