Bio
Doug Finfrock is in his 23rd season with the Riverside City College Women’s Water Polo Team. He joined the staff in 2003, where he served as an assistant coach for 10 years before assuming the head coaching role in 2013.
Shortly after joining the Tigers’ staff in 2003, he earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University and in 2015 added a second Master’s Degree in Coaching & Athletic Administration from Concordia University – Irvine.
Since taking over as the head coach, he has compiled an overall record of 278-67, for an impressive .806 winning percentage.
Finfrock has hauled in numerous accolades, highlighted by being named the 2013 California Community College Athletic Association Coach of the Year. He followed two years later by hauling in Southern California Coach of the Year accolades. Furthermore, he was tabbed the 2015, 2016, 2023, and 2024 Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Coach of the Year.
The Tigers have been a playoff staple under Finfrock. More recently, he coached his team to a 2016 CCCAA Championship after earning an overall record of 30-3 that included a 7-1 conference mark. Additionally, he has led the team to a state runner-up bid in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019, and 202,3 as well as 3rd place finishes in 2017 and 2024. He has also led the Tigers to OEC Championships in 2015, 2023 and 2024. His coaching skills extend to numerous lengths as he has coached seven OEC Most Valuable Players, 36 All-Americans, 18 All-State players, one State MVP, and 40 OEC First-Team All-Conference selections.
During his playing years, Finfrock was a standout water polo player for the Tigers and the University of California, Irvine Anteaters, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in history. He currently resides in Rancho Cucamonga with his wife, Erin, sons Jack and Benjamin, and daughter, Ella.
